Fairness, Firmness and Consistency in Grayson County

Gwen (Tiki) Braxton is a lifelong community advocate and Denison resident. She will bring fairness, firmness and consistency to the office of Grayson County Constable Precinct 2.

Constables are the bailiffs of the Justice Court, they serve papers for small claims court. They serve eviction papers. Additionally, the Constable may serve papers that come in from out of town, including bank garnishment cases and child support suits. Constables may also work traffic and property seizures.

Ms. Braxton believes it is time for a change, time to build relationships and eliminate barriers: “One of the biggest barriers facing Precinct 2 right now is evictions. This is a problem in our community that is only worsening as we battle the COVID pandemic. We need fairness and consistency and we need people who will work to make our community better for EVERYONE.”

Incredibly active in the community, Ms. Braxton is a member of the Greater Coffey Memorial Church where she is the Director of Education and a Sunday School teacher.

She has an Associate’s degree in Applied Sciences, a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, and a Master’s of Organizational Management, and she is eager to begin the training required for the Constable position. Constables are required to attain 40 hours of continuing education biannually, 20 hours of which must be in civil process.

Ms. Braxton is the Co-Founder and a Board member of HEAT Homeless Empowerment Action Team, the Founder of Youths in Action and Organizer of the Leo Cameron Golf Classic Annual Tournament. She is a Denison Leadership Institute Alumna, class of 2016, Grayson County Community Resource Coordination Group - Organization 2015, a Stratmore's Who's Who in 2010, 2011 and 2012. Ms. Braxton is also a Certified Professional Life Coach with numerous years of activity in Toastmasters International where she won many distinctions, including Club President of the Year, and Toastmaster of the Year. She is also Founder of Itsutiki LLC.
